They chose to get married on Friday the 13th, honoring a multi-generational tradition in Josh’s family: every Friday the 13th, the men of the family bring flowers to their brides. The location, and wedding date were the perfect nod to family, love, and a little bit of luck.

A Personal Connection & a Dash of Luck

This wedding felt extra special thanks to a little family history—and a touch of luck. Alyssa’s grandfather spent his childhood fishing in the man-made lake at Red Berry Estate (usually after a sneaky hop over the fence), proving that sometimes a little risk leads to the best catches—literally. Fast-forward to Josh and Alyssa’s wedding day, and that spirit of luck and love carried through: guests tried their hand at the onsite casino, cheered at the horse races, and celebrated the couple’s Friday the 13th wedding, proving that love, like fishing, often rewards the bold and the lucky.

From the start, Josh and Alyssa wanted a wedding that felt rich, bold, and unapologetically maximalist. We even designed custom seating “playing” cards for the tables, merging elegance with playful personality—a nod to the couple’s love of bold design and a little good-natured risk.

Alyssa stunned in a gown by Olivia Grace Bridal in San Antonio, perfectly complementing the wedding’s decadent aesthetic. Her makeup, by Too Glam_Steph, was flawless from first look to final dance. Josh matched her effortlessly, both embodying the style and energy of a celebration that was designed to feel personal, fun, and editorial.

Guests indulged in a feast curated by Rosemary’s Catering, combining indulgent flavors with beautiful presentation, while Cutting Edge Entertainment kept the energy high and the dance floor full. From thoughtful cocktails to playful interactions, every bite and every note of music contributed to an immersive, celebratory experience.
